With the help of Silas, whom I regard as a faithful brother, I have written to you briefly, encouraging you and testifying that this is the true grace of God. Stand fast in it. She who is in Babylon, chosen together with you, sends you her greetings, and so does my son Mark. Greet one another with a kiss of love. Peace to all of you who are in Christ. 1 peter 5:12-14

Apostles generally mentions many names who have helped the them in the work of the Lord towards end of the letters. Here we see few names like Silas/ Silvanas and Mark. Both has helped peter in the mission field. Now here Silas/ Silvanas served as a carrier of the letter and possibly served as a scribe too; peter calls him a faithful brother.

Jesus had more than 12 disciples. 12 were only the primary group and there were men, women accompanied Jesus and participated in the kingdom work. There were men who opened their doors for Jesus to come in and preach the gospel, and many supported Jesus in his earthly ministry. In the same way many churches and individuals have helped peter, Paul in the mission filed. There were leaders, elders, church planters who were appointed by the apostle in different parts of the world and they had become the very catalyst for the expansion of the kingdom of God in the early centuries. We could see few names in acts of apostle and in the letter written by apostles. The message of the kingdom of God has reached to the utter most part of the world and it all began with a very small movement in Israel. This good news about Jesus Christ has conquered nations and many souls have surrendered their lives to the work of the gospel. We do not have any records of millions of people who have stood for the sake of gospel regardless of opposition, persecutions and difficulties. Some times our contributions might not be visible to the world but we must know God knows each and every one who has faithfully served him in the world. God has graciously bestowed his gifts in our lives and Scripture is clear that loyalty to God does not go unnoticed or unrewarded and lets develop more disciples for Jesus.

Jesus encouraged His followers to “rejoice that your names are written in heaven” (Luke 10:20). Galatians 6:9 continues the theme of future reward: “Let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.”
