Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, **to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you.**1 peter 1:3-4

Peter speaks about an inheritance that kept for us in the heaven, the inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled and unfading. What is this inheritance peter is speaking about? Salvation is the inheritance he is speaking about. Psalm 16:5 David says, “LORD, you alone are my portion and my cup; you make my lot secure”. In old testament when the land canan was divided among tribes “Levi- the priestly tribe had no portion or inheritance in the Land because God promised to be their portion. We have become the part takers of the same promise now and our portion is God himself. And this inheritance is eternal. When we are living on this earth our God must be the source of the happiness and blessing; nothing beside him can give you a joy that is unfading. Matthew 6:19 Jesus said “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal. God’s word tells us that every glory of the world is perishable, defiled and fading so We are called to strive for treasure that last for ever. Ephesians 1:11 says In Christ we have obtained an inheritance, having been predestined according to the purpose of him who works all things according to the counsel of his will.

Are you excited about our inheritance in heaven?

Paul was excited about the inheritance that was kept for him in heaven. He served God here on this earth with passion, because he knew what he does for the Lord is not temporary but its eternal. Paul wrote this to the Philippians “This one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. “Paul is the one who had lost world for the sake of Christ. And he says he is excited for Jesus. He says knowing Christ more is the greatest reward, to be with him forever is the greatest gift that he can ever receive. So, he says I will not let this perishing pleasures, fading beauty to stop me from gaining Christ. Keeping that eternal goal before him he says I forget the past and I strive forward for the greatest calling God has for me. there might me many things that are stopping us, it might be some regrets about the past, failures, pain or pleasure of this world. In those circumstances lets do what Paul have asked us to do “let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith.”
