Jesus the good shepherd brought us out from the slavery of sin to give us eternal life. At the same time, we have to face different situations every day in our lives. Life is mixed with battles of various kinds. Minor or major decisions are taken every day. On the top all this we have to face temptations of the world and must resist the devil. As a result of all these lives can sometime become overwhelming.

Jesus said I am the good shepherd who knows, calls and most importantly leads them and walk before his sheep. When many shepherd scattered the sheep, Jesus promised to lead us and walk before us.

David in psalm 23 says “He makes me lie down in green pastures; he leads me besides still waters”. David has experienced the presence of God during the valleys of death. And he knows how God was so faithfully led him during toughest challenges he faced.

Our God is not only ordaining our day-to-day steps, he also strengthens us in this journey of faith. When we are tempted and tested, when we are weak in our faith and becomes weary, he restores our soul. He shall lead us to the path of righteousness. Psalms 23 David reminds us about the faithfulness of God towards his people.

When Moses was given a responsibility of leading the people out of the Egypt, he didn’t know the way to the promised land or how he will able to manage lakhs of people. But God promised to be with him and walk before him. Moses set out to Egypt with that promise from the Lord. As a shepherd leads his sheep, God led the people out of the slavery and led them to the promised land. God met the people need every day both physically and spiritually.

When life gets tough and situations are overwhelming you are not alone your Lord shall be with you. Jesus said those who have heavy burdened and weary come to me I shall give you rest. Let’s continue to go to him knowing he is a good shepherd and he shall not despise the one who seeks his face.
