Jesus said I know my sheep as my father knows me; again, Jesus said he calls his own by name and leads them out. Is this not a comforting word to our hearts, the God who created this vast universe knows me personally?
if my God says He knows me it simply means He knows everything about me. Nothing is hidden before him. The things that I haven’t shared with anyone, the things that I am burdened with, the disturbing, distressed thoughts of mine, situation that is cannot be explained, Your past, present and future. We serve a Lord who knows us, understand us personally.
David praise God in psalm 139 thinking of how fearfully and wonderfully God had made him. He says when he was knit together in his mother’s womb, he wasn’t hidden from God’s eyes. He continues to say that All days of our lives are ordained by God before even we came to be. How precious are his thoughts for us? And it is marvellous and wonderful in our eyes.
God who knows every detail of our life; from the moment we formed in our mother’s womb to the eternity. Our God interested in us more than our parents and friends are. So, bible says even if though my father and mother forsake me, the LORD will receive me. (Psalm 27:10). He has uniquely created you for a purpose. To make him known through your life (Work, relationship).
God’s word reminds us that He knows our weaknesses and He has promised to be there for us to give us grace in our weaknesses. We might be weak in our faith, in our walk with Christ or weakened by situations; In midst of all this scripture says He is the good shepherd who knows it, understands it and promised to rescue us by strengthening with his abundant grace. (Hebrews 4:14-17)
When I am tempted, he strengthens me to overcome, when I Sin, He alone can cleanse me and give me a clean heart to start afresh. He will not let us tempted beyond our ability; He knows me so He will provide the way of escape and to endure it (1 Corinthians 10:13).
Many a times we as His sheep fail to understand or know Him the way he knows us. We fail to love Him the way He loved us. We must prayerfully ask our heart “Do I know my shepherd”? Jesus said My sheep knows His master.
So let us hold on to the hope we profess, he who promised is faithful. Let’s exalt Him with David - "The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want".
