Marriage and family are the foundations of any healthy society. But unfortunately, we see people have started treating it as another contract which they could break anytime they want and they have redefined the meaning of marriage into their own terms. Let’s revisit the biblical foundation of marriage and family to see how God sees this beautiful institution.

When we look into the first marriage in genesis chapter 2, we see God was involved in the entire process of Marriage. We read in the scripture and believes that God is one who has ordained marriage. We human kind fashioned by God from the creation to marriage (Union). We see,

• God created Adam (the first man)

• God knew so He said “It is not good that the man should be alone”

• God created eve (the first women), the suitable companion to eradicate that loneliness

• God is the one who brought Eve to Adam

• Adam saw and found her to be bone of my bone and flesh of my flesh, so a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.

So, when we see the account of man’s creation and the union of man and women, we see God involved in the entire processes. God has defined, dignified and sanctified the marriage by declaring them as one.

Jesus said “What therefore God has joined together, let not man separate.” (Mark 10:9). Jesus has made it clear that God joins a man and women in marriage (in this context he speaks about Adam and eve). Therefore, today when a man and women is been united by marriage, it is the invisible hand of God that united them and we have should not separate them. Marriage is holy and ordained by Him.

Our marriages will have to face various challenges. And when faces those challenges either we can run from the challenges or we can admit that every marriage presents these challenges and asks us to address them head on.

We can face these challenges only when we believe that God is the one who ordained this and God’s grace alone can save our marriages. In the Current world people see marriage as a contract that they can break it anytime but bible defines marriage as a covenant and we believe our marriages are not mere human decisions rather there is a divine hand in union between mand and women. We must pray and strive/work hard to save our marriages for the glory of God.

Those who are yet to be married must continue to ask God for his divine guidance in your marriages; let your decisions not be driven by our own thoughts rather ask God’s guidance in every step you take towards this holy union.
