“As soon as Judas had taken the bread, he went out. And it was night.” — John 13:30

The Gospel of John often contrasts light and darkness, symbolizing the choices we make, either to walk with Jesus, the Light of the world, or to turn away into spiritual darkness.

In John 13:30, Judas leaves Jesus to betray Him. John adds, “and it was night”, not just physically, but spiritually also. Judas stepped into the darkness of sin and separation from God. Yet shortly after, Peter also fails, denying Jesus three times. Both betrayed their Master. The difference was their response. Judas gave in to despair and rejected grace, walking further into darkness. Peter, though broken, returned in repentance and was restored. The grace of Jesus was sufficient for both, but only Peter received it.

This reminds us that it’s not our failure that defines us, but our response to it. We all carry both Judas and Peter within us. We fail, but will we return to the Light or remain in the night? Jesus welcomed both Judas and Peter to His table, even knowing their coming betrayal. Grace was offered freely. To walk in the light means to abide in Jesus daily (John 15:4–5). His light reveals sin—not to shame us, but to invite us back into fellowship with Him.

• Have I failed Jesus? How do I respond—by running from Him or back to Him?
• Are there areas in my life where I am still choosing darkness over light?

No matter how far I’ve fallen, His grace still invites me to return. The table is still open, forgiveness is still available.

Prayer: Lord, you know my heart. Even when I seem close outwardly, I may be far from you inside. Draw me back. Thank you that your grace is always enough. Amen.

यूह ा 13:30 म, यहूदा यीशु को धोखा देने के लए चला जाता है। यूह ा लखते ह, “और वह रात्र का समय था।” यह केवल भौतक रात नहीं थी, ब आ क रूप से भी एक अंधकार था। यहूदा पाप और परमेश्वर से जुदाई के अंधकार म प्रवेश कर गया। थोड़ी ही देर बाद, पतरस भी असफल होता है—वह यीशु का तीन बार इनकार करता है। दोन ने अपने ामी को धोखा दया। परंतु अंतर था उनक प्रत या म। यहूदा नराशा म डब गया, उसने अनुग्रह को अ ीकार कया, और अंधकार म और गहराई तक चला गया। पतरस, टटे मन से, प ाताप करता है और पुन ापत हो जाता है। यीशु का अनुग्रह दोन के लए पयाप्त था—लेकन केवल पतरस ने उसे ीकार कया।

यह हम याद दलाता है क हम हमार असफलता नहीं, ब हमार प्रत या पर परखा जाता है। हम सभी म कभी-कभी यहूदा और पतरस दोन होते ह। हम असफल होते ह, लेकन ा हम प्रकाश क ओर लौटते ह, या अंधकार म ही रह जाते ह? यीशु ने यहूदा और पतरस दोन को अपनी मेज़ पर आमंत्रत कया था, यह जानते हुए क वे उसे धोखा दगे। फर भी, अनुग्रह खुले दल से दया गया था।

• ा मने यीशु को कसी रूप म अ ीकार कया है? मेर प्रत या ा रही— ा म उससे दूर भागा या उसके पास लौटा?
• ा मेरे जीवन के कुछ क्षेत्र ऐसे ह जहाँ म अभी भी अंधकार को प्रकाश से अधक चुन रहा/ रही हूँ?

चाहे म कतनी भी दूर गर गया हो, उसका अनुग्रह अब भी मुझे लौट आने का नमंत्रण देता है। उसक मेज़ आज भी खुली है। क्षमा आज भी उपलब्ध है।
