"Sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all people, because all sinned” Romans 5:12
When we look at the world around us marked by pain, brokenness, and conflict, we naturally wonder why it isn’t the perfect place we long for. The Bible says: Sin is at the root of it all. When Adam and Eve believed the devil’s lie, they sought to become like God enlightened and independent. By choosing disobedience, they shattered their intimate relationship with God, leading to spiritual death and leaving humanity lost and powerless to save itself. Sin became part of our identity, deeply affecting our thoughts, desires, and actions. Selfishness, hatred, and lust took root in human nature. No one could stand righteous before God. Relationships once rooted in love and unity became tainted by pride, greed, jealousy, and betrayal, and the world created for harmony began to reflect division and strife.
With spiritual and relational brokenness came physical suffering. Sickness, pain, and death entered the human experience things never intended by God. Yet, because of sin, we live in a world shaped by suffering and lo ss.This is our present reality a world affected by sin in every way: spiritually, emotionally, relationally, and physically. But this isn’t the end of the story. Though sin has left a deep scar, God has made a way for healing through Jesus Christ. Even as we face the consequences of sin, we cling to the hope of restoration found in Him.
When faced with the brokenness of the world, where do you turn and why? Do you believe Christ can heal your brokenness? If so, what holds you back from receiving His restoration?
Prayer: Lord, I see the brokenness in the world and in my own heart. Help me not to be overwhelmed by the darkness but to turn to You, the source of life and restoration. Heal what sin has damaged and guide me in Your ways. Amen.
