Jesus began His ministry by preaching the gospel of God and kingdom of God. Jesus came to synagogue on a the sabbath day and opened the scroll and read from Isaiah chapter 61. After reading few verses Jesus rolled up the scroll and said , “Today this Scripture has been fulfilled in your hearing.”. Jesus said he has come to proclaim the good news to the poor. And now what was this good news? What does scripture says?
The good news is this that the year of the Lord’s favour has come; it’s the time for the fulfilment of the prophesies about the messiah and His reign. Gospel is all about the liberty to the captives and sight to the blind. Christ fulfilled this by freeing many possessed by the demon and by opening the eyes of the spiritually and physically blind.
Gospel or Good news of God is this that “God so loved the world that He gave His only Son (Jesus) so that who ever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life”.
God so loved the world
His son (Jesus) came for us
Because We were perishing with Sin
Now we can have eternal life through Jesus.
Sin had separated us from the life of God and We were dead and perishing due to sin . Jesus came so that we can have life, life in abundance. Good news is this that God loves me and His desire is to save me from the eternal punishment. The gospel of Jesus Christ is the good news that God provided the way for man to be freed from the penalty of sin (John 14:6; Romans 6:23). Everyone dies physically, but those who believe in Jesus Christ are promised a physical resurrection unto eternal life (John 11:23–26). Those who reject Christ will not only die physically but will undergo a “second death,” which the Bible describes as an eternal lake of fire (Revelation 20:13–14). Jesus is the only One in whom salvation can be found (Acts 4:12).
Do you believe in this Good news? Are we excited about this fact that we are saved from the corruptions of the world and we are children of God waiting to inherit the eternal reward. Let this good news of God drive your daily affairs. May God fill your heart with this good news that God has lavishly loved you and gave His only son so that you would not perish but have eternal life.
