In this you rejoice, though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been grieved by various trials,so that the tested genuineness of your faith—more precious than gold that perishes though it is tested by fire—may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ. 1 Peter 1:6-7
Peter says When we face various trials, that trials tests the geniuses of our faith. Once our genuineness of faith is tested, it will bring praise, glory and honour at the revelation of Jesus Christ. So peter wanted to give us this assurity that the various trials that we face will turn out to be a blessing. Jesus said to his disciples that “If the world hates you, know that it has hated me before it hated you (John 15:18).Jesus also said "Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you (Matthew 5:12,13). For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison (2 Corinthians 4:17). God never promised a life without pain and suffering but he guarantees His presence in midst of those situations. And we experience His presence in various ways protecting us from dangers, healing our sicknesses, answering our prayers, restoring my heart, suppling for our needs etc.. When Israelites came out of Egypt the preincarnate presence of God (Angel pf God) was with them to guard and to bring them to the promised land. That doesn’t mean that they haven’t faced challenges on the way, they have faced several difficulties, red sea was before them, pharaoh was behind them, water shortage, food scarcity and fear of enemies, rebellion; problems were plenty but God’s presence with them led the all faithful one to the promised land. When God allowed Israelites to go through various kinds of trials, God was seeing whether they will continue to obey Him. The trails will reveal the Genuity of our faith.
What we do when our faith is tested?
When our faith is tested through fire, don’t forget the fact that God is right there with you in midst of that situation. It might be sickness, persecution for the faith, financial instability, work pressure, family issues, or any of that sort. God knows what you are going through and he has prepared a way out. When Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego were put in the fiery furnace, God appeared in midst of the fire and delivered them. Isaiah 43:18-20 prophet speaks to Israelites Do not remember the former things, or consider the things of old. I am about to do a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert. God can turn the situations around, trust him in all your situations; He shall guide you through. Let me end this with verse in Isaiah 58:11 The LORD will guide you always; he will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land and will strengthen your frame. You will be like a well-watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail.
